Dependable Promises

Joshua 21:45   (NLT)   Not a single one of all the good promises the Lord had given to the family of Israel was left unfulfilled; everything he had spoken came true.

There comes a time when being reminded of God’s faithfulness is very comforting and very much needed. There has not failed one word of all His promises. All He has spoken He has done just as He said.

Joshua 21.45 - Dependable PromisesWe face very challenging times. There are times when there is nothing we can do to change our predicaments, when even specialists can bring us no cure or solution; they can just state painful facts. It can be very daunting, very unnerving, especially in life-and-death situations. It’s a fact of life. There is limit to what even the most intelligent and most skilled of us can do.

These are situations and moments when God matters most to many people, when our faith in Him finds its real value, when there is nothing more we can do, when we have come to our human limitations. But we’re comforted knowing there’s reality beyond our own abilities, beyond the temporal, beyond the natural. In God is our hope; in Him we trust. We find courage and peace because we know He never ever turns back on His word. He is our savior; He is our provider; He is our deliver; He is our healer. He has never failed us, and He will never ever do.

In my most gut-wrenching and faith-challenging moments, this is where I find my assurance, courage, and comfort. Praise and glory be unto our ever-truthful, ever-trustworthy, and ever-dependable God.

In God is Our Hope

Psalm 39:7   (KJV)   And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.

We are satisfied about today and we’re excited about our tomorrow. We have great expectations. We’re not as those who live without hope. In Jesus, we not only have hope, Psalm 39.7 - In God is Our Hopewe live in hope. This keeps us going and growing. We all need hope. Those who lose hope lose passion for life, even the very desire to live. Praise God, in Him is our hope.

God has proven Himself and His faithfulness many times over. He has given us great and precious promises and we know He won’t disappoint us. He has never and will never break one word of all His promises. That’s just Him; He’s naturally dependable. He’s truthful; He’s excellent in everything He does; His timing is impeccable. Who needs better anchor than that? Where can we find better reason for hope?

For sure, there are many uncertainties; things change; we don’t know much of the future. There are many threats to our future—especially our future as believers. Even our Lord warned us about growing evil and persecutions. But He also told us that the gates of hell won’t prevail against His church. What do we have to lose? Even the experience most feared—death, is a transition towards our most glorious change and existence.

Consider it Done

Matthew 28:6   (KJV)   He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

Raising one’s self from the dead was impossible – until Jesus. It didn’t surprise Him; He said He would do it, and He did it.

Whatever Jesus said He would do, consider it done. I’m sure “impossible” is in His vocabulary, but He lives above it. We ought to really trust Him more.

Dear God, Your promises are true and amen – no matter how hard the obstacles are. Thank You; we have Someone we can really depend on, – in Jesus’ Name, amen.
