Worship from a Servant

Genesis 24:52   (NLT)   52 When Abraham’s servant heard their answer, he bowed down to the ground and worshiped the Lord.

In a brief narrative about Abraham’s servant, we see how worship of the Lord came as a very frequent, very consistent, and very common practice to him. He sees God’s hand working in his life and prayer, and he always remembers to acknowledge God. Others Genesis 24.52 - Worship from a Servantmay see things as coincidence; a worshiper sees God’s hand behind fulfillment of requests and prayers. They don’t have to be big miracles; we see the hand of God even behind smallest of things.

It is a common knowledge that Abraham was a worshiper of God, but we barely hear people speak about Abraham’s servant. One of the things we thank God for is He does not disqualify servants from worshiping him. Worship is not just a privilege given to the rich, influential, powerful few but even those seen by society as the lowliest among us.

Praise God; He doesn’t play favorites. He does not discriminate. We don’t have to be a rocket scientist to be a person who would be qualified and allowed to worship God. We don’t have to be “A” students; we don’t have to be a famous person; we don’t have to belong to a certain income bracket; we don’t have to possess certain count of accolades, trophies, medals, and awards.

Everyone is called and invited to worship God. What a privilege. What an honor.

Yieldedness-Servanthood

Luke 1:38   (KJV)   38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

Luke 1.38 - Yieldedness-ServanthoodServanthood to God involves not just doing something or laborious activities, it could be as simple as yielding oneself to God for whatever God’s purpose is.

At times, some of us think God’s not pleased with us until we serve Him close to exhaustion. I agree there are times when serving God becomes very hard, but hardship isn’t the measurement or determining factor whether we’re really serving God or not. More than anything, He just wants to move in and through us. The Holy Spirit is still working. We just have to allow ourselves: mind, soul, spirit, bodies as His channels.

Dear God, thank You for considering us to take part in Your Divine move. It’s an honor to be considered and invited as Your vassals and vessels. You can do everything without our help, but You allow us to enjoy the fruits of Your labor. Help us Lord to enjoy the productive rest of just offering our bodies to You—in Jesus’ Name, amen.

Immovable Oppositions

Numbers 16:41  (KJV)   41 But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye have killed the people of the Lord.

There are those who are determined to oppose their leaders. It didn’t matter if the Lord Himself took the lives of the people who were rebelling against God’s appointed authorities; it didn’t matter if the rebels suffered a terrible end, these oppositions failed to see God’s hand and the fate of the other oppositions. They ludicrously proceeded to accusing and blaming God’s servant.

God’s servants ought to expect overly closed-minded oppositions. God can show them the most convincing proofs there are and not even move them to have a slight change in their mindset. Let’s not waste our precious time, energy and effort chasing what may be a lost cause. We can get so tired trying to gain a more favorable opinion and treatment from others. When others have made up their minds and have determined not to change their thoughts about us, we can exhaust all the different ways we can try; and the end will just be that: us – exhausted.

Our God, You know everyone’s heart. Please give us a heart of discernment that we may know who our true friends and real enemies are.  Lead us to the paths of wisdom that we may use time beneficially with those whose hearts and minds are tender, willing to still be changed by the power of your Presence and Word. – In Jesus’ Name, amen.
