Luke 3:4-6 KJV
“As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth; And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.”
clearing the way for the Lord
Unfilled valleys, high mountains, crooked paths – they may represent hindrances that make it difficult for people to experience the Lord’s salvation. We have lifestyles we’ve gotten so familiar with that may not necessarily be pleasing to the Lord. There are things we do that are convenient and beneficial to us but may not necessarily be acceptable to Him. These and many other factors may be causing us not to see and enjoy the fullness of everything God wants to be and to do in our lives. This is true not only to us but to other people too.
I ought to be a voice crying out in the middle of this present generation wilderness, “Prepare the way of the Lord.”
May this preparation start with me. May I take up the shovel or ride the bulldozer – whatever is necessary to clear the way between our Saviour and those who need his salvation.
