Luke 1:34,37 (NLT) 34 Mary asked the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.” 37 For nothing is impossible with God.
The one-of-a-kind task Mary had was from the Lord. It was a naturally impossible task. Despite the work being God-ordained, Mary didn’t automatically understand it. She had a very legitimate question; the angel had a very ready answer – the gist of the answer to the naturally impossible task is that nothing is impossible with the supernatural God.
Everyone has a God-given purpose, God-assigned tasks. Some assignments can’t be achieved unless a miracle is involved. But it is in those times when we’re often shaken, often fearful, often more inclined to back-off, back-down, and miss the great opportunity of joining God in His amazing work. Interestingly, that may be true even in simple things. We have a paralyzing feeling that we aren’t capable of accomplishing tasks we’ve been handed.
We ought to see things in the light of God’s involvement in our lives. There’s an omnipotent God caring for very limited human beings. Yes, we will have questions – reasonable questions. Yes, we may ask those questions – freely and honestly. But let us not allow our unanswered questions to give us a feeling that we have justified excuses, that we can be selective as to whether to obey Him or not. Let’s find out what He says and listen. And whatever He says, we can always run with it with full confidence that our omnipotent God is a very dependable God.
Thank You Lord for sure answers to questions we need answered.
